Let’s suspend disbelief for a moment and pretend that the prevailing narrative that cops are out there randomly killing innocent blacks is true.
Let’s ignore the reality that twice as many whites are killed by cops, according to the CDC’s own numbers and CNN’s own reporting. Of course, one must observe in context that more whites than blacks are killed by the police primarily because whites outnumber blacks in the general population. The country is about 63 percent white and 12 percent black. Fair enough…
Mind you, I’m not arguing here whether or not we live in a quasi-police state. By any measure, our community police forces are way over-militarized, and our society labors under a legalistic labyrinth of byzantine busybodiness.
But, let’s pretend for a moment that the outrage really is because white police officers are killing innocent blacks in unprecedented numbers and for no apparent reason. If that were the case, then a case could be made that all this righteous rioting is, or may be, justified. If the prevailing narrative were true…
Now, lets contrast the lack of media-induced, moral outrage at some real numbers: Abortions are killing more than fives times as many unborn black babies as unborn white babies. The victims are truly innocent blacks – unborn, innocent black human babies.
Flip those prior general population numbers over to the abortion equation – 63% white to 12% black – and it becomes clear that blacks are being aborted at a rate exorbitantly higher than whites. Where is that narrative? Where is the declaration of racism? Where is the outrage!?!
If this were really about the taking of innocent black lives by autocratic, government-sponsored forces of white oppression, then the Very Reverend Al Sharpton and his army of moralists would march on every abortion clinic within a brick’s throw of a black population center.
But it isn’t about any of that. I’m not sure what it really is about. I imagine each individual proponent of the current narrative has their own personal or organizational motivation.
How many of these incidents must we, as a nation, endure before we cease creating public policy and producing infotainment based on lies and distortions?
- The cops acted stupidly…
- If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon…
- Hands up, don’t shoot…
- Duke lacrosse…
- UVA Fraternity and Rolling Stone mag…
- Now Baltimore…
- And Ferguson…
